FAQ + Betamax SIP settings for all branch

Here is an overview of all Betamax and its offshoot settings for SIP softphones and hardware.

  Who's behind this?

• All services are VoIP offshoot of Finarea SA and were of the Betamax GmbH & Co.KG licensed (based in Cologne) or of V2000 BV in Rotterdam.
  This order corresponds to the chronological order of the market entry of the provider (if understandable). Previously, there was also 1899.com , but not now offer VoIP service more.
• VoIP-IN numbers
  Since the end of 2006, all German local access numbers from Betamax off . There are also awarded no more numbers of this kind.

  032 numbers are now calculated from Betamax as landline numbers, that are during the Freedays also free to reach offer a "free" with the providers, the D landline.
  
  Betamax itself does currently (February 2008) only VoIP-IN numbers in Germany and the UK. For all other countries must be a Betamax independent DID search service (DID = Direct Inward Dialing, sometimes DDI = Direct Dialing In). • Free calls in the test phase

• The charging of funds:

• Transmission and suppression of numbers (CallerID)
  Anyone who has received a number, can suppress the transmission permanently by setting this in the Betamax software (under Call Settings or CallerID). The setting is applied also for calls with SIP hardware.
  
  With the help of the software, any phone numbers can be transferred as CallerID, if one has verified it (mobile and fixed-line numbers).
  
  To submit the verified CallerID even without the Betamax software, the CallerID must be passed at registration with the SIP server. (In the Fritz Box Fon this happens, for example, by entering the CallerID as Internet phone and "use Internet phone for the notification" function enabled)

• Preemption
  Duration calls are usually after 1 hour forcibly separated . One can immediately dial again.

• Prefix the country code
  Normally expect Voipbuster and Co., that dials numbers in international format, ie preceded by the country code (eg 0049 + area code without 0 for Germany).

• Interesting features:
  • Web-activated calls
    Trigger calls to any two numbers on the Internet. So you can use the Betamax services with ordinary phones without SIP device or softphone. To see the Web providers ("Make a Call") or in software ("Direct Call" and "Direct Call Back").
    Be calculated the normal costs for two (!) Numbers and a connection fee.
  • Web SMS
    About the software and the Web interface of the provider, SMS can be sent. Here, a sender's number shall be, when you have entered in his user profile is a mobile number and this can be verified (verification is carried out by a text message and a password).

  • Call Forwarding / Call Forwarding

  • Java software for mobile phones

• Multiple Login with an account
  Basically, you can register multiple times with one account, even from different locations. Outgoing calls can then be run from two locations (even simultaneously), incoming calls will only alert on the equipment / software, / who last registered on Betamax server.
  But the Betamax own software detects an application at another point and log off. This is therefore not suitable for multiple application.
• "Contacts" call for free / select SIP URI
  With the software provider to the contacts can call for free. With hardware and third-party software that was not possible until recently.
  
  Meanwhile, however, the choice of SIP URIs from within and was released outside of the Betamax network.
  
  The SIP URI consists of the user names and any registrar. The username will be awarded only once for all providers, so that the called party can be clearly found it.
